Ep.28 Busting the Trans Myth

At age 12 Camille was almost arrested for walking around in her sister’s clothes.

When Cristian was still in school he dreamed of joining the Navy, but in his dreams he was wearing the men’s uniform.

Join Jim as he talks with them both about what it takes to lead their lives authentically and on their own terms.

First up is Camille Hopkins, a transgender rights activist from Portland, Oregon. Camille shares her journey of transitioning from male to female (MTF) and lets us know some of the fine work she’s doing with Basic Rights Oregon.

Then we’re off to Albuquerque, New Mexico to talk with Cristian Cruz. Cris relocated from Buffalo, NY to pursue his dream of living in the Southwest. He transitioned from female to male (FTM) about ten years ago. He currently works as an EMT and is in training to become a full-time firefighter.
